Went to the Lantern Festival on Friday night, which was mostly good. There were one or two sour notes in the evening, but I'm not going to mention them here. Well, OK, I will mention the fact that we waited an hour to watch the dragon dancing only to find that they weren't going to perform that night, after all. Bah, humbug.
The lanterns were really pretty, though. I took Elaine's picture besides the monkey king lantern, and I absolutely loved the monkey lanterns that were clutching the trees. And the sheep lanterns, of course, but that's for granted. Oh, and the panda lanterns that were on the see-saw.
Also, I SHOOK THE PM'S HAND!!!!!one. I'm such a Helen Clarke fangirl.
I went back to Tracey's afterwards and we talked until 3am, or thereabouts, about whether there were any real differences between men and women other than the ones that society forced on us - her arguing that there weren't, me arguing that there were. I can't actually remember all of it, because my brain shuts down after midnight, but it was very interesting at the time. We got woken up at 7 by a plasterer o0
Then last night the two of us (armed with gluten-free slice and gluten-free cheese muffins) met up with Claire and Sophie to go watch PotC at the open-air cinema, which was absolutely brilliant. We rented blankets and snuggled up and laughed and gasped and did everything else in the right places.
Afterwards we drove back to my place for coffee and biscuits while Claire talked about guys - she's in the throws of another disastrous relationship. They didn't leave until 2am and then I collapsed into bed. |
